Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve well chilled. Tucked away in the south-eastern corner of Moldova just 30km from the Black Sea, Chateau Purcari is one of Eastern Europe’s most exciting wineries thanks to a combination of exceptional terroir and a very long winemaking heritage. Founded in 1827 following a special decree by Tsar Nicholas I, this historic estate enjoyed immense popularity in the 19th century and won medals for its wines both at home and at the Paris World Exhibition. French settlers to the region had noticed the similarities between the local land and their native Bordeaux which coincidentally sits at the same latitude and has similar rubidium-rich soils. This led them to partner with local monks and begin planting Bordeaux varieties here alongside the indigenous grapes traditionally used in Moldova. Purcari’s Vinohora wines celebrate this historic fusion of international and local grape varieties by crafting exciting and original blends like this stunning rosé. Composed of the local Feteasca Neagră variety and Montepulciano vines, this unusual wine combines the traditional Moldovan winemaking spirit with an innovative touch of Italian style. The grapes are carefully harvested aby hand and vinified according to local winemaking techniques, creating a light and refreshing rosé which pairs perfectly with grilled fish, chicken dishes, seafood and leafy salads.
